Artist Scott Moran lives in Rhode Island. Moran utilizes found objects for mixed media projects, including 2014/2015’s “Rust” series. An ongoing project, “Rust” utilizes chemical emulsion and found materials to revel in the beauty of disrepair. “Rust” inspires a deliberation on neglect, decay and renewal — all topical notions that reflect the twenty-first-century experience, from our crumbling bridges to our dismantled political institutions. Vivid, living pigments capture and celebrate this uncertainty. Other found objects and materials, including coffee grounds, nails, oil paint and natural detritus, add depth. “A lack of permanence and the beauty in deterioration — these are recurrent themes in my work.”
