"Here & There" (Compilation of 7 photographs)

Christian Harder

Rhode Island photographer Christian Harder studied fine art and marine biology at the University of Rhode Island. The artist’s editorial work has appeared in Elle Decor, Architectural Digest, Conde Nast Traveler and other publications. Harder has exhibited his fine art photography at Pennsylvania’s Photo Media Center, the Warwick Museum of Art and Hera Gallery. His most recent OneWay solo exhibition, 2014’s “Here and There,” featured more than 125 travel photographs. “The images are not traditional travel photography, rather they capture my impressions and experiences as I traveled,” Harder says. “Sometimes little details and sometimes broad expanses caught my eye.”

Here & There

These images are a collection of personal photographs taken over the past 7 years here in New England and while traveling abroad for work and pleasure.

The images are not traditional travel photography, rather they capture my impressions and experiences as I traveled. At times when I was located in a small town or a large city for a couple of days I documented my daily routine and encounters while exploring in the region.

I selected specific images for the collection to highlight places, things, food, and people that inspired me. Sometimes little details, sometimes broad expanses caught my eye.

I wanted these photographs to convey the culture, mood, and environment of the area at the time I was there. I hope the groupings that the images are displayed in will allow you to immerse yourself in the day-to-day experiences that drive me to continue traveling and making photographs.
