Newly Renovated OneWay Gallery Hosts Summer Group Exhibition

Narragansett, RI, May 11, 2015 – New space, new work. That’s the concept behind OneWay Gallery’s forthcoming group exhibition, which opens on May 30 with a public reception.

The show features local and international talents working in a range of media, including OneWay-represented artists such as painter A.Dolt, mixed media artist S.W. Dinge, painter Reason, photographer Christian Harder, painter Evoker and painter Stephen Cook, who owns the Boon Street gallery.

Several emerging artists have also been tapped for the group show, which runs through the summer season. See work by Irish painter Andrew Collins, Rhode Island mixed media artist Scott Moran and New York-based sculptor and painter Lauren Rodriguez.

Established artists include RISD graphic design lecturer Nikki Juen and Los Angeles designer Kathleen Rosenbloom, who will show a neon piece composed of song lyrics written by her husband, filmmaker Chip Rosenbloom.

The exhibition also boasts two well-known printmakers: St. Louis’s Tom Huck, whose woodcut pieces are held in various museum collections, including the Whitney Museum of American Art and the St. Louis Art Museum; and California artist Andrew Holder, whose work has been featured in the modern design magazine, DWELL.

In addition to the group show, Narragansett’s only contemporary art gallery is celebrating the completion of a series of renovations. “The conversation to add more space started almost four years ago,” says owner Stephen Cook. “We wanted to expand the gallery and add studios for local working artists.”

Cook, his team and the building owner settled on a second-floor addition, which increased the space by 1,300 square feet and made room for four new artist studios. “Once we decided we were going down this road, it took one year of planning and zoning with the town, then two years of construction,” Cook says. “Now that construction is complete, we have a new addition and a newly renovated space. The 6,300-square-foot building houses OneWay Gallery and fifteen artist studios.”

The public is invited to explore the new space and exhibition during a grand opening reception on May 30 from 6 to 9 p.m., which will be catered by Warwick restaurant, The Shanty. Following the show, OneWay officially opens for the season, hours Tuesday through Friday from 4 to 8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 8 p.m.
