Open Studios Exhibition

What do a landscape painter and a tattoo artist have in common?

OneWay Gallery.

Now through March 3, the Boon Street space hosts an Open Studios show featuring work from OneWay’s eclectic assemblage of resident artists. This marks the gallery’s second showcase of in-house work.

“During our first Open Studios, earlier this year, I was surprised by how well these individual artists show together,” says gallery owner Stephen Cook.

Cook’s large-scale conceptual paintings will hang alongside work by resident artists Patricia Sylvia and Christine Webb, who create oil-on-canvas landscapes; mixed media artists Jessica Cabral and A.Dolt; painter and illustrator Jeff Burtwell; and Narragansett’s first tattoo artist, Rachel WS, whose work will show on live models during the show’s reception on January 21.

Each artist occupies a wall in the show. Over the course of the exhibition, Cook says, the artists will refresh their walls with new projects.

“I wanted the artists to have complete control over what they show,” Cook says. “And with the walls constantly changing, people will gain a greater sense of their work.”

The public is invited to an artists’ reception on January 21 from 5 to 8 p.m.
